My work goes beyond research and teaching, centering on the creation of impactful academic and technological bridges worldwide. This includes advising governments at a strategic level, chairing international scientific committees, and launching targeted programs for skill development and inclusive education in emerging regions.
---1. International Scientific Leadership (MCSoC & CASEO)
I actively contribute to the international community through leadership roles in prestigious organizations and by initiating global platforms for knowledge exchange:
- IEEE CASEO: As an elected member of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Technical Committee on Education and Outreach, I champion programs that promote inclusive science and engineering worldwide. (See the CASEO Initiatives sub-page for details).
- IEEE MCSoC Forum: Founder and Standing Chair of the international IEEE MCSoC Forum series, a vital platform for researchers in Multicore Systems-on-Chip. With submissions coming every year from more than 40 countries worldwide, the symposium truly reflects the global reach and diversity of the MCSoC community. This broad participation underscores its consistent role as a catalyst for international exchange and innovation in semiconductor systems. (See the MCSoC Forum page for details).
2. Academic Collaboration and Skill Development
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) facilitates joint research and student exchange. This effort is tightly coupled with my focus on practical skill development:
- JICA Contribution: Leading initiatives that connect the University of Aizu with institutions in Tunisia to create joint research projects and specialized training programs.
- Skill Building: Directing mentorship and educational activities designed to equip international students and professionals with advanced skills in areas like Neuromorphic Computing, AI, and High-Performance Computing. (See the JICA & Skill Development sub-page for details).
3. Regional Impact: Advisory and Capacity Building
Tunisia Impact & Government Advisory
Service to country of Tunisia includes high-level contributions to national scientific strategy:
- Prime Minister's High-Level Committee: Advised the Tunisian government on key strategies for science and technology policy, focusing on leveraging global expertise for national development.
- JICA Grassroots ICT Project: Led key activities for this project in Tunis, specifically aimed at empowering youth and women through ICT innovation and entrepreneurship. (See the Tunisia Impact & Advisory sub-page for details).
Nigeria and China Collaboration
I maintain active academic ties through long-term visiting professorships and research partnerships:
- Nigeria: Served as a Visiting Professor at AUST, conducting specialized courses and fostering research collaborations focused on embedded systems and energy-efficient computing.
- China: Held visiting professorships at top universities, lecturing on advanced multicore architectures and supervising joint research initiatives. (See the Nigeria & China Collaboration sub-page for details).
4. Global Technical Service & Standards
I contribute to the future direction of computing standards and specialized technical fields through active participation in global working groups and technical committees:
- IEEE EDS Neuromorphics Technical Committee: Technical Committee Member focused on advancing the state-of-the-art in neuromorphic architectures, devices, and systems within the Electron Devices Society.
- IEEE P3722 Working Group (Responsible AI): Contributor to the working group creating the IEEE P3722 Guide for Responsible AI in Higher Education, helping to establish global standards for ethical AI adoption in academia.
