What most people think of when it comes to building robots is the hardware like machine parts and electrical wiring. But software is equally if not more important. Taking home vacuuming robots as an example, any time they waste can be reduced and their working efficiency can be improved by modifying their software instead of any of their physical parts. And if the user interface for a remotely operated robot is made easier to use, the robot can be made to work more smoothly and efficiently.
The University of Aizu's development of robots proceeds from the point of view of their software.
