MathWorks(※1) and the Audio Engineering Society(AES) (※2) sponsor a competition(※3) to foster digital signal processing and creativity among students. In the competition, teams from all over the world design and program audio production plugins using Matlab. Mr. Camilo Arevalo, a 1st year PhD student in the Computer Arts Laboratory under the supervision of Prof. Julián Villegas(※4) was conferred the third prize.
