Regional Attractions
The University of Aizu is located in Aizu-Wakamatsu City, Fukushima
Prefecture, in the Tohoku region of Japan, about 300 km north of Tokyo.
Aizu-Wakamatsu, a historically famous region situated in Japan's
mountainous north country, has long been considered the gateway into
the beautiful Tohoku Region. The seasonal changes of nearby Mt. Bandai
to the north and Lake Inawashiro to the east make for some of the most
breathtaking scenery in Japan.
Aizu-Wakamatsu, a castle town throughout Japan's long feudal period,
is famous for the preservation of its historical sights, its
traditional lacquerware, its renowned sake, its nearby hot springs
and its surrounding natural beauty.
