Working with People in International Cooperation and Development

A. K. M. Hedayetul Huq,
Professor, Center for Cultural Research and Studies

This is the first ever study of the rural development work of 16 Japanese NonGovernment Organisations with the poorest people in Bangladesh showing how these bodies organise their beneficiaries into workable groups of 15-20 people to provide education, training, credit and other inputs to improve their lives. While the quality of work outstrips other organisations, they hardly extend their services to other areas. Their investment, too, is comparatively low.
