Environmental Mapping based on Singularity and Differential Topological-Modeling

Minoru Ueda,
Assistant Professor, Human Interface Laboratory

The difficulty of making a good geographical surface arises from the gaps between discrete data (such as the elevation mesh data provided by the Japan Map Agency) and continuous surfaces. With correctly extracted critical points (based upon homotopy theory), the surface network of the Aizu area is constructed by scanning ridge lines and ravine lines to obtain features of terrain undulations.
