Visualization of Basic Concepts in Quantum Physics

Hiroyuki Sagawa,
Professor, Center for Mathematical Sciences Research and Studies

We are developing developing 3D and animated graphics in Maple and/or {\sc PostScript} that illustrate concepts such as rotating vectors and colliding spheres. We discuss a particular simulation and provide students with the Maple source code, and ask the students to modify the simulation by modifying the Maple program.

During the year we have developed object-oriented physics textbooks in mechanics and electromagnetism. The first book, ``Mechanics'', is now at the last stage of writing and will be published this year by Springer-Verlag, Japan Publishing LTD.
