Environmental Mapping based on Singularity and Differential Topological-Modeling

Minoru Ueda,
Assistant Professor, Human Interface Laboratory

Geomorphology is shown either as grid points or contour lines. We show the topology as an image of mountain peaks, valley bottoms, saddle points. They are singular points in differential topology.

We install the grid data of Hokkaido Island, provided by The Map Agency of Japan, onto Iris workstation. We calculate singular points and display them together with contour lines.
