First Floor

First Floor of the Library

[Main Counter]
Besides loan and return of materials, copy and reference services are available at the Main Counter.
[Non-Japanese Book Stacks]
Foreign books are stacked by subject according to Library of Congress Classification (LC). Also, three terminals are available for material collection searches.
[Book series] Book series are stacked by publisher (alphabetical order) on the shelves along the walls.
[Reference books] Reference books are stacked on the second and third shelves from the front.
[Newly-arrived Books] Newly-arrived books are stacked on the front shelves. You can retrieve information using OPAC for recent books by designating a registration period backdated from the current date.
[Audio-visual Materials] Audio-visual Materials are stacked on the shelves next to the shelves for Newly-arrived Books.
[Kunii Collection]
Approximately eight hundred donated books are available.
[Browsing Corner]
The Browsing Corner contains new issues of both Japanese and Foreign magazines and journals as well as 10 different Japanese and Foreign newspapers.
[Magazine Racks]
Newly-arrived magazines, classified into Japanese magazines and non-Japanese magazines, are placed on the racks in order of the Japanese syllabary and by alphabetical order. You can also find university bulletins and technical reports of the University of Aizu and other universities here.
[AV Corner]
The AV Corner is equipped with video players for individual use.
[AV Room]
The AV Room provides for group use of video equipment.

*Please make enquiries at the counter when you wish to use of the AV Corner or AV Room.

 

Second Floor

Second Floor of Library

[Japanese Book Stacks]
Japanese books are stacked by subject according to Nippon Decimal Classification (NDC). Also, two computer terminals are available for material collection searches.
[Book series] Book series are stacked by subject on the shelves along the walls.
[Reference books] Reference books are stacked on the front shelves.
[Materials Room (Kunii Collection Materials Room)]
Approximately two thousand four hundred donated books are available.
[Reading Area]
The Reading Area contains 117 desks and is located on the southern end of the second floor.
[Private study booths]
Private study booths are equipped with a terminal which can be used while studying and which are useful for research.
[Group reading room]
A group reading room, equipped with a terminal, is available for study/research by small groups.
[The corner only for personal computers]
There are 4 PCs in this corner. Also, you can bring your own PC.

*Private Study Booths, the Group Reading Room, and the corner only for a PC are not available for people out side the university.

 

Basement

Basement of the Library

The basement contains the closed stacks. The following library materials are stored in the stacks

  • Books
  • Back numbers of journals (please use after checking which years are available).
  • Audio visual materials
  • The University of Aizu publications
  • Newspapers

*Please note that outside users are not permitted access to clased stacks in the basement. Outside users who need library materials placed in these stacks, please contact library staff.
