International Education/Research Environment
World-class and Top-level Faculty Recruited from All Over the World
To put its founding principles into practice, the University of Aizu recruited faculty from throughout the world. The situation in Japan today is such that both the quality and quantity of computer researchers and engineers are insufficient, and there were only a limited number of people capable of supervising them at the time when the University was established. Accordingly, the University recruited outstanding individuals from Japan and overseas, and sought outstanding faculty by reviewing their achevements in their respective fields through detailed examinations, and this resulted in approximately 40% of the faculty being non-Japanese. This level of internationality has become one of the University's most distinctive features.
This proves that computer science and engineering is viable globally.
Of course our outstanding faculty also includes Japanese educators and researchers, and both Japanese and non-Japanese researchers on campus collaborate on joint projects to make global research practically viable.
On average, over 300 research achievements including research papers have been accomplished worldwide each year.
Strong Worldwide Networks
As a result of internationalization promoted at the University of Aizu ever since its establishment, agreements with over 40 universities and research institutes all over the world have been concluded. The University of Aizu also has promoted collaborative research with overseas universities, and hosts international scientific conferences on campus every year.
Internationalization has steadily progressed at the University, by accepting excellent international students, and exchanging faculty and students.
CSIP will continue to support individuals who have aspirations to work globally through distinctive international channels developed over the years, so that they will be able to make the most of significant opportunities.
